The IT department ensures that the latest technology is adapted and that applications run smoothly in all the divisions and offices of Dulsco. Mohammed Bilal Hasan, General Manager of Information Technology, says, “We have different applications and solutions running in different departments customized to cater to their needs. Applications developed in-house are being used across all our business units.

A disaster-recovery solution ensures that all the information is safe. A backup of the entire company’s data is created on a daily basis.

An ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution called PeopleSoft Enterprise One (now Oracle) is used effectively for Finance, Procurement and Distribution. The department is in the process of implementing the Human Capital Management and the Payroll modules for the HR division. Additionally, it is currently in the process of updating the existing version of J. D. Edwards (PeopleSoft Enterprise One) to the latest version, which constitutes a great leap in technology and the design of this ERP.

”We have implemented the credo of ‘train the trainer’, wherein the super users are responsible for training other users in the department, thus enabling appropriate knowledge transfer. Internet access is also provided to blue-collar employees in their state-of-the-art accommodation” informs Bilal.

All the branches and departments of Dulsco are connected to the corporate office through high bandwidth leased lines, ISDN, and dial-up. Virtual Private Network (VPN) is being introduced gradually to provide access to the users. Applications and emails can be accessed from anywhere around the world through the web site’s authentication system. The Dulsco web site is designed and managed by the in-house IT team.
