Cellucom, a company whose vision is enabling mobility in today’s world, began operations in Dubai in 2000 with a team of three. The business has grown at an unprecedented rate and Cellucom now employs 600 people. The company strides ahead with the concept of keeping people connected while they are on the move.
The company's high growth is primarily due to its rich experience in the African market. Mr. Arun Nagar and Ms. Nisha Nagar, had successfully managed their enterprise in Tanzania for 20 years. Over time, they realized the African market was saturated and decided to explore the Gulf region. Ms. Nagar, Executive Director, Cellucom says, “we were contemplating the next destination for our business and we realized that there is no better place than Dubai”.
At present, Cellucom has 35 retail outlets in the UAE alone, with more than 90 outlets across the GCC including Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. Cellucom also operates over 200 outlets across India. Because it is important to have product or service differentiation in a market like the UAE, their focus is on service. According to Ms. Nagar, “we invest a huge amount of time and resources on training our frontline sales staff so that they are on the competitive edge. This training empowers our sales staff and helps them to guide our customers who are in search of mobile devices. Our personnel primarily tries to understand clients' needs and then provide them the appropriate solution. We believe that there is not one size that fits all”.
Among the sales personnel at Cellucom retail outlets, 10% are contract staff from Dulsco. This association commenced a year ago and Ms. Nagar is happy to say that, “some of the Dulsco staff have performed well during the past few months”.
There is a huge expansion plan for the future and this is likely to bring about increased demand for sales people at Cellucom retail outlets. In this expansion plan, Dulsco will play a supportive role and is delighted to offer its services to a growing company.
